Twin-Coil Solar Storage Tank
 

The Indirect solar water heater is decorated with a copper tubing (120' of 5/8" I.D. tube) wrapped around and secured to the tank. Its double wall, vented design is for positive leak detection and is foamed in place with R-Foam for high efficiency.  This solar heat exchanger storage tank is designed for closed loop solar systems.

Shown is our solar water heater made of heavy gauge steel. It incorporates an upper and a lower glass lined coil type heat exchanger. The tank has a well for a temperature sensor and protected by a removable tough elastic synthetic polyamide cover.

The upper heat exchanger coil can be linked to a gas or oil fired boiler. It can be also used for radiant heating systems. The lower coil is designed to be connected to the solar system.

  • 40 mil (one mm) white elastic synthetic polyamide protective tank  cover

  • Wall thickness of steel, middle section of tank: 3.5 mm

  • Wall thickness of steel, upper and lower dome: 4.3 mm (minimum)

  • Wall thickness of steel, heat exchanger coils: 2mm

  • Thickness of glass lining: 0.25mm

  • The tank is equipped with a sacrificial anode rod that has an indicator which shows whether it has to be replaced.

  • The thermal insulation is 3" (75mm) of polyurethane foam. The outer skin is now made of white ABS plastic.
